Here is my book review of Kenneth G. Bennett’s new novel, Exodus 2022.
The end is coming. We all know it. The only real question is how. Kenneth G. Bennett explores an end of the world scenario as fantastic as it is chilling. The possibility is there, but the author speeds things up with the fantastic elements that makes this story different from the run of the mill Contagion/Zombie/Asteroid scenarios so prevalent today.
When Joe Stanton starts ranting about his missing daughter people assume he is on drugs. Joe doesn’t have a daughter and he never did. When the wrong people take note of his rantings the wheels of destruction are set in motion, putting Joe and his girlfriend on a collision course with the forces of nature and the men who want to control them.
This book is clever and well written. It was hard to stop once I got started, and even when I thought I knew what was happening I was thrown a curve ball. the story takes place in the Seattle area for the most part, and I can tell you that it is pretty accurate in the depecition of the people and places of the are. The characters are well crafted and it is hard to do anything but bedrawn into their lives.
There was not much to detract from this book. Occasionally the action would slow down, but this was usually a precursor to an onslaught of activity that kept the book a real page turner.
I would definitely recommend this book. It is fun and scary at the same time with a healthy mix of action and espionage thrown in to make this a great summer read. As an additional note, I would recommend staying away from whale watching while reading this one, unless you want your view of the apocalypse to front and center.

About the book: Joe Stanton is in agony. Out of his mind over the death of his young daughter. Or so it seems.
Unable to contain his grief, Joe loses control in public, screaming his daughter’s name and causing a huge scene at a hotel on San Juan Island in Washington State. Thing is, Joe Stanton doesn’t have a daughter. Never did. And when the authorities arrive they blame the 28-year-old’s outburst on drugs.
What they don’t yet know is that others up and down the Pacific coast—from the Bering Sea to the Puget Sound—are suffering identical, always fatal mental breakdowns.
With the help of his girlfriend—the woman he loves and dreams of marrying—Joe struggles to unravel the meaning of the hallucination destroying his mind. As the couple begins to perceive its significance—and Joe’s role in a looming global calamity—they must also outwit a billionaire weapons contractor bent on exploiting Joe’s newfound understanding of the cosmos, and outlast the time bomb ticking in Joe’s brain
